Words to Avoid in Writing

We have been doing a lot of work over the last few weeks. Research is our main goal at the moment. We found that there are four of us who write on this blog. We share our own knowledge and wisdom when learning new skills about writing as we never managed to venture to get to college-level English. We’re all from Ireland or England which now live in America.

We met via Discord chat several years ago. Now use Google Docs to share our knowledge and we still use Discord to chat to confer with each other on shared projects. Now we intend to share some words of wisdom with you today. This is a post we should’ve posted way back in October. Now it’s getting done now.

Words to avoid whenever possible when writing Fiction (very, rather, merely, so, extremely and quite). You should we believe never use any word ending in a -ly. we find those rather distracting. Avoid them as much as possible. We advise you to read writing books when learning the craft of fiction.

Other words to avoid are (in fact, just, righteous, of course, that said). These are just like the others. You can find other ways to express what you need to have characters say and express themselves, and in setting. These words need to not be used due to the fact there are much better words out there for writers to use.

There are some great sites out there to find which help explore other words for these redundant words. I have found two to three in the last few weeks. We know of the usual thesaurus, we found two others. We will add them to our link section.
