Poem – Happy Birthday Dad

For so long I’ve wondered,
And pondered the thought,
What life would be like,
If yours hadn’t cut short,
Would I have seen you,
A lot more today,
Than I did when I could’ve,
Before you went away?
Would we be sitting,
Father and son,
With beers and the rugby,
Cheering them on?
Would you be settled,
In the grandfather role,
Sharing your wisdom,
From days long ago?
I wish that this poem,
Whilst I reflect,
Was words to say in person,
Not hindsight and regret,
To you my dear father,
On what is your day,
I love you forever,
And just want to say,
Happy Birthday Dad
I miss you xxx
